Privacy Policy

How B & G Heating & Cooling collects, uses, and protects your personal information — including SMS messaging, cookies, and your Canadian (PIPEDA) and California privacy rights.

Effective date: July 23, 2026

B & G Heating & Cooling ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website bgheating.ca. We are a family-owned heating and cooling contractor based at 4 Portside St, Hannon, ON L0R 1P0, Canada. We value your trust and are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. By using our website or services, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you provide directly when you:

  • Request a quote or estimate, or book a service or maintenance visit
  • Submit our contact form, apply for a job, or sign up for a maintenance plan
  • Call, text, or email us, or interact with us on our website

This information may include your name, phone number, email address, service/mailing address, and details about your home comfort system or request.

We also automatically collect limited non-personal information when you visit the site, such as IP address, browser type, device and operating-system information, referring pages, and general browsing behaviour. This helps us keep the site secure and improve its performance.

How We Use Your Information

  • Deliver, schedule, confirm, and manage the services you request
  • Respond to inquiries, quotes, and support requests
  • Send invoices and process payments through our third-party providers
  • Send appointment reminders, service updates, and — only with your consent — promotions
  • Improve our website, services, and customer experience
  • Meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations

Mobile Messaging & SMS Communications

If you provide your phone number and opt in, you may receive text messages from B & G Heating & Cooling — such as appointment confirmations and reminders, service updates, account notifications, and, if you consent, promotional offers. Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply.

You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message; you will then stop receiving texts from us. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at [email protected] or 905-574-8747. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of any purchase.

Your phone number and SMS opt-in data will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes, and mobile opt-in/consent information will not be sold or rented. See our Messaging Terms & Conditions for the full program terms.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information only:

  • With trusted service providers who help us operate — for example payment processors, our financing partner, scheduling/CRM software, website hosting, and analytics — under agreements that restrict their use of your information.
  • When required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, safety, and property.

This does not include your mobile messaging opt-in data.

Cookies, Analytics & Third-Party Tools

Our site uses a small, specific set of tools:

  • Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager — to measure site usage and page performance. These run under Google Consent Mode v2: analytics and advertising storage are denied by default in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, and Quebec (Canada) until you accept, and we honour the Global Privacy Control browser signal.
  • Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise — to protect our forms from spam and abuse (subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service).
  • Google Fonts — for typography.
  • Call-tracking / call-attribution numbers, where used, to understand which pages and campaigns generate phone calls. Calls may be recorded for quality and training; we will tell you at the start of a call where recording applies.
  • A cookie-preference banner so you can accept or decline optional cookies.

You can control cookies through your browser settings and through the cookie banner on this site. We do not run cross-context behavioural advertising from this website.

Payment Security

This website does not collect, transmit, or store credit-card or bank-account numbers. When you pay for service, payment is handled by our secure invoicing and payment providers. Financing offered on our Financing page is completed entirely on our lending partner Financeit’s own secure website and is governed by that lender’s privacy policy and terms — we never see or retain your full application or card details.

Data Security & Retention

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, and we keep it only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s Privacy

Our website and services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your Canadian Privacy Rights (PIPEDA)

As a business operating in Ontario, we handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Under PIPEDA you may:

  • Know why we collect, use, or disclose your personal information, and give or withdraw consent;
  • Access the personal information we hold about you and request a copy;
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Withdraw consent to marketing communications at any time (subject to legal or contractual limits).

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Quebec Residents — Law 25

If you are a resident of Quebec, additional rights and obligations may apply under Quebec’s Law 25 (An Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information), including rights to information, access, rectification, de-indexing, and data portability, and the designation of a person responsible for the protection of personal information.

[FRENCH-LANGUAGE PLACEHOLDER — HUMAN/LEGAL DECISION] A French-language version of the Law 25 disclosures required for Quebec residents will be provided here. This text must be prepared and reviewed by qualified bilingual counsel and is intentionally not machine-translated. Until it is supplied, Quebec residents may contact us for assistance in French or English using the details below.

Your Privacy Choices — Do Not Sell or Share

You may at any time:

  • Opt out of promotional emails using the unsubscribe link in our emails;
  • Reply STOP to unsubscribe from text messages, or HELP for assistance;
  • Contact us to access, correct, or delete your personal information;
  • Manage optional cookies through the banner on this site or your browser settings.

B & G Heating & Cooling does not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Because we may serve or measure visitors across borders, we honour the following California rights for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA. California residents have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose, and request a copy;
  • Delete personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share, so no opt-out is needed — but you may still register your preference);
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we collect none beyond what is needed to provide service);
  • Non-discrimination — we will never deny service, charge a different price, or provide a different level of service because you exercised a privacy right.

We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out preference where required by law. To exercise any of these rights — or to submit a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" request — email [email protected] or call 905-574-8747. We will verify your request using the contact information you provide and respond within the time required by law. You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices or the law change. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision; your continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
